Randomness.

I had a brief talk with dad last night. He's finally announced his reward to me for finally completing both my courses. Yay! I'm ecstatic! But he's proposed another plan - to take up CA as I work. JUST GREAT. And I thought that my studying days were over.

Anyway I'll get another reward once I complete it. Only this time, it diminishes if I don't complete it within a certain time frame. The amount better be really worth it -_-".

Oh, I think I failed to mention that I met up with two old friends this month. It's pretty random because these are people that I haven't seen in ages. But they were in Melbourne and I thought, why pass up a chance to meet and catch up?
Ee Ling - the girl I meet only during the first day of CNY.Her friend, See Mun.Carolyn - a fantastic rhythmic gymnast who now trains kids. We were ballet mates when we were still kids. Yes, I realise that I seem to catch up with alot of my friends at TenRen. What is there not to love about green tea?! :)

On a different random note:

I just don't understand how Gem Of Life needs like 80 episodes or so. I'm up til 40 and I'm still not hooked on it. I'm just watching it because I've started it. I rather watch my english TV series! I kinda regret not grabbing more TVBs from Janice and Siu Keong.

Sex And The City

Last Tuesday, Steph & I headed out to watch the long awaited movie - Sex & The City.
It was marvellous, I would say. I don't care whether it lived up to my expectations or not but I believe it was an all-time great movie that reflected on love and friendships, filled with tears and laughter. Literally.I could really relate to some of the things they said and felt.

And if you haven't watched the movie and don't want any spoilers, my advice is to surf elsewhere because I'm going to talk about parts of the movie.
When Carrie got stood up by Mr Big, I could feel her pain. After so many break-ups, you would think it's impossible for him to hurt her again. Especially when they are THIS close to the wedding alter. To feel such humiliation when you have 200 guests waiting to see you in your designer wedding gown in the next room. As if being labelled the last single girl at the age of 40 to get married wasn't embarassing enough.
When Mr Big tried to approach her to explain, I recognised the fierce protective look Charlotte gave him as she asked him to back off - it reminds me of myself. Strangely, I get very protective over my close friends. I will not tolerate any nonsense of them being bullied by anyone when they don't deserve it. Especially by boyfriend's crazy moms.

I'll always remember how heated up I was when I heard Jason's mom insult Yishyene and threatened Jason. I think I managed to somewhat beat her at her own screaming match. Well, I'm getting a lil' off track. What I was trying to say is I get THAT angry and fierce when it comes to my loved ones, til the point that I obviously lose my manners. Anyway, Steph did say that I sometimes remind her of Charlotte haha. The depressing days of just wanting to sleep through the whole day. Like you would never live a happy life again. I think I've went through that phase before as well. Everything felt 'dark' and you didn't even want to let the sun shine through into your life.

And after months and months of denying any forgiveness to the man that broke your heart, you know well enough that you still miss him every single day of your life despite how you seemed to have move on. But it only takes another broken-hearted woman to dig out the real feelings you've kept in the corner of your heart.
And throughout your hardships, you have friends that walk this difficult road along with you. Those are the ones that you know you can rely on, for life. Ones who truly care, without any necessary backstabbing which seems to be sadly unavoidable in real life. And definitely, friends that clearly do not KISS AND TELL. You know your life is over when you've got friends who won't think twice about leaking out your stories if they 'had to'.
Another highlight of the movie is when Carrie were photographed in the many many designer gowns in Vogue. Ah, I would kill the try on some of those dresses. But I wouldn't look as good as her, since she's got a pretty lean and muscular body.

I think I wouldn't mind watching it another time. Samantha's witty sex comments are always so funny :D

The movie would have been greater if June was around to watch it with us :(

On a totally random note, I found it hilarious when Charlotte took ages to think of the great opening line for Mr Big - I CURSE THE DAY YOU WERE BORN. :) She's just too cute for words. And when she shitted her pants. Literally.Anyway, hope you people were as 'carrie-d' away as I was. I'm gonna go shopping for labels AND love later haha.

Finally.

I've been having a tvb marathon whenever I bum at home. Watching the 'Price of Greed' which is always easily referred as the 'abalone' show, as it revolves around a family who owns a business that sells abalone and stuff like that. Heaps of people had been telling me that when you watch this show, you would feel like whacking the cunning characters in the series. And tears will be shed.

I'm not sure if I'm just out of tears after this semester. Or that I was always doing something while watching the series, so I might not have been paying as much attention or emotional as I expected I would be.

I did feel touched during certain parts of the show, but I do not recall shedding a tear at all. Until episode 33, where the girl tells her boyfriend that it's over for good because she finally found out the 'other girl' that her boyfriend has previously cheated on her with, was one of her best mates. No tears were shedded, but I could feel the sting in my eyes.

I could feel her pain. I really could. But of all things that would have made me emotional in this show, it had to be this?! Love again. Bah. I'm just a useless lovefool.

Quotes.

After randomly picking some of lil Steph's posts to read, this one puts a smile on my face.

*******
Title: You Just Are.

Brooke: "I wanted you to fight for me, I wanted you to say there is no one else that you could ever be with, and that you'd rather be alone than without me."
Lucas: "How was I supposed to know that?"
Brooke: "You just are."

- 'A Multitude of Casualties'
One Tree Hill, Season 3.

Brooke: "You know, sometimes people play hard-to-get because they need to know the other person's feelings are real."

- 'First Day On A Brand New Planet'
One Tree Hill, Season 3.

Brooke: "There are 82 letters in here and they're all addressed to you. I wrote them all this summer, one a day but I never sent them because I was afraid. I was afraid of getting my heart broken again, like before, because you hurt me so bad. And I was afraid to be vulnerable and I was afraid of you and the way that you make me feel. And I know that doesn't matter now after what I did but I just thought that you should know... this is how I spent my summer Luke, wanting you. I was just too scared to admit it."
Lucas: "Brooke! What you did with Chris... it's okay."
Brooke: "It's not. It can't be. Its too much to forgive."
Lucas: "Well that's too bad because I forgive you."
Brooke: "You can't.."
Lucas: "I just did, so you're gonna just have to deal with it. I'm the guy for you
Brooke Davis and I know I hurt you the last time we were together but I..."
Brooke: "I love you."
Lucas: "I love you too... pretty girl."

- 'How A Ressurection Really Feels'
One Tree Hill, Season 3.

Sigh. I miss watching OTH. For some weird reason, the second quote keeps ringing in my head.

May The Bitchiest Lady Wins?

I've always been a slow poke. Even when it comes to watching shows, I'm slow. I always tend to record series or other shows, and then watch it days or weeks later. And since I was pretty free tonight, I decided to watch one of the shows that I recorded - Malaysia's Most Beautiful Finale, Season 1. Actually, I didn't even watch a single episode before this, but somehow I just wanted to see the outcome. :D

Anyway, the Malay girl - Dilla (hope I got it spelled correctly), won. Well, I do think she's prettier than the other Chinese girl, Jessie. Of course, beauty is not supposed to be just judged based on the outer beauty. But I suspect that both lack in terms of inner beauty. They screened past episodes which involved controversy especially stirred by Jessie. Must have involved loads of backstabbing and bitching. You could tell because all the previous contestants had their chance in asking the final two girls questions and some of them probably had something against either one of them because you could see that some of the questions were made to stun them with some sort of confrontation.

Questions like 'People's been telling that you hate me...blah blah blah..do you think you are humble enough in this competition?' Dilla said yes. The lady who asked her the question walked away in a huff saying something along the lines of 'It just confirmes of what I thought of you', because Dilla felt that she was humble.

Another question which was for for Jessie, went like this: Why is it that you're different when you're in front of the camera and off-camera? Which is the real you? Jessie said that both were the real her and mumbled utter nonsense, probably trying to convince the audience that she is not just pretending to be another person on screen. Anyway, I felt her answers sounded too 'prepared'.

Even the video recordings of why the other girl doesn't deserve to win the title was another opportunity to backstab. "I don't think Jessie deserves it to win the title. She's just voluptious" and went on laughing. Voluptious? You mean fat. Her may have pretty full boobs, but she's also got a tummy to nearly match its size. Don't get me wrong. I'm not much better than her. I have flabs that could wow you, and my upper area is just about the size of ant-bites. If it was the other way round, I would really be pleased. But to be honest, if I were to meet them esp Jessie in person in the state of without make-up and with glasses, I would have never thought that she would be a runner up for the title.

So I wonder, is it just girl's nature to be bitchy? Look at 'America's Next Top Model'. Another bitching fest. But nevertheless, it's still fun for us to watch. But isn't Malaysia supposed to be a conservative country? Which expects good examples to be shown everywhere? I wonder why would they even THINK of coming up with such a show? Did they actually think all the girls will be in harmony, skipping in a circle while holding hands? Or maybe they just wanted another hit show. Anyway, my job is just to sit back and enjoy the full action.
