I was just randomly going through some of the purchases I've made lately and came across a simple bubble dress I bought a couple of weeks back. Can't believe I forgot all about it. Well, great! If I can't get a dress by this weekend, at least I can wear that for my boy's convo next week.
I was reading a thread earlier and somehow one of Angeline's antics came into mind. She once mistook a girl for me in a shopping mall's game arcade. That girl was about to play this game I always used to play back then - hammer a targeted amount of mice on the touch screen. So Angeline went up to her and said something which I couldn't remember. When she realised that it wasn't me, she quickly casually looked at Stacey and pretended the question she just asked was intended for her. Thank god she didn't wrap her arms around the girl's like how she sometimes do to me. HAhaha..
I read up something from a forum and a girl posted a pic of a friend, asking people where she got could her belt, dress etc. The reason she didn't ask her friend directly was because she did not want to look like a copycat. Funny. It kinda defeats the purpose, right? Even if someone suggested wanting something - whether you read it off somewhere, knew the person or not, you are basically still copying once you want the same thing. Because it wasn't your idea, it was someone else's. And you want it too. Sama kan?
And let me tell you, whether you agree it or not, we are all copycats. Why? What are fashion magazines for? What are supermodels for? They parade around in clothes to attract us and make us want to buy them or copy their style. Where do we get these ideas from? Seeing it off people on the streets, models or magazines! If you're saying you came up with the idea all by yourself, it's total bullshit. You might have modified it a little bit but the basics have definitely came from somewhere.
If one was to point out, copying is when you try to be something you aren't (style-wise). I'll ask you this - so basically, someone isn't allowed to change her or his style for life, is it? One isn't allowed to explore their own tastes in fashion? Like me, for instance. My wardrobe has changed from year to year. Or you could say, sem to sem. I wouldn't say I will follow fashion blindly but I would definitely give them a try to see if it works for me. Never try, never know.
I remember I read elsewhere how some would mind if other people had the same things. But someone wouldn't mind if their closest friend shared the same things. Now, where got such thing wan? I mean sure there IS, but can't you see..it's not the copying that is bothering you. It's the person that is. If you didn't like someone to have the same things you have, you will feel the same way even with your closest friends. You just don't like the thought of someone you dislike, sharing the same taste.
Anyway, its just impossible to not have people having the same things as you because individuality only comes to a certain extent and they are bound to have similar tastes in things. Heck, if you like something you saw on a magazine or website, you can be rest assured that a few hundred people will happen to be hunting for the same thing! Most shops sell in bulks. You just gotta live with it!
And there are talks about how some people follow fashion blindly just to look 'in'. Well, I only half agree. Some people just wanna look hip, no matter how shit they look in them. But then, I'm sure they just aren't aware of how shitty they look like. Though I could generally make a decision for myself, I always like second opinions from friends to judge whether I DO look good in them or are my eyes just in denial of how I actually look. HAha..I mean, would you PURPOSELY wear something that looked horrigible? I would assume not. So, I would say these people are just lacking of good friends to give them their honest opinions :)
As for me, I've always been a slow one. In everything. Back from copying notes off the board in school to getting ready to go out. When the Meteor Garden & F4 were in among the chinese community, I had no interest in it til the phase was wayyyy over then only I started watching that series. And got Angeline involved into being a fan as well. And that's only ONE of the things that I started liking when everything was over it. Always one step behind, that's me! I wonder if I was due late as well..hmm.. Oh cannot be. I am a Caesarian kid.
Anyway, been trying to clean up the apartment bit by bit. I have guests this weekend so it's gotta be neatER. I was planning to exercise more to tone up before I head to GC, but I can clearly say byebye to that idea now. Only one week away.
Brisbane, Gold Coast, here I come,
Gotta tone those flabby arms!
Okay, no idea where that came from. Hehe..
